Irina Karpeta

Irina Karpeta Director of Basingstoke Softeners Ltd and wife of Glenn Karpeta sadly passed away on February 5th 2025.

Irina brought her many skills to the business in November 2021 when ownership of Basingstoke softeners changed. Irina played a big part in that transition.

Irina then established herself as marketing director and a home surveyor bringing her abundant energy and infectious enthusiasm to the team and our customers.

Irina's vision was to make Basingstoke Softeners not just a successful business, but a joint venture with our customers ensuring we provided solutions and high level ongoing support that our customers want and expect from a modern business.

Irina was not always involved in the industry. She spent three decades working in the fashion industry with her own label Irina Couture making bespoke wedding dresses and award winning dance wear. Irina had an amazing ability to understand her clients to customise a solution to fit their needs and budget.

Irina was a very sporty person having run four city marathons including London and Venice. She also cycled the Pyrenees and the length of Portugal.

In June 2023 Irina was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).

As with everything in her life, Irina took this in her stride going through various rounds of chemotherapy in 2023.

Early in 2024 her cancer got more aggressive requiring more treatment. She became very ill during Christmas 2024 and returned to hospital. At the end of January, she made her last journey home. She passed away a week later with Glenn and her daughter Maria by her side.

Cancer treatments, particularly for Leukemia, are advancing fast. Unfortunately not fast enough to save Glenn's wife Irina.

Irina will be dearly missed by everyone at Basingstoke Softeners. Our tribute to her will be to continue to evolve, develop and adapt to our customers needs and become the go to solutions provider for Water softeners and drinking water in Basingstoke.

Irina wanted donations to Blood Cancer UK in her name to help save more lives in the future. Basingstoke Softeners will match donations initially up to £1500 and we are working with Blood Cancer UK to have an ongoing contribution.
